Today I’m excited to be sharing my simplified approach to fall decor with you! Since my family spends the most time in our living room and kitchen, I decided to focus my decorating efforts there first. I love the coziness of fall and its warm hues, and I’m excited to show how I incorporate those elements into my home this fall season. And because we all love lots of Fall inspo, I’ve teamed up with 11 other incredibly talented bloggers from a variety of niches to bring you a fall decor blog hop chock full of inspiration and ideas! If you’re joining me from Holli at Bees N Burlap, thanks for hopping over!
To me, fall decor is about more than just pumpkins and mums. It’s about creating a feeling of the Fall season: a feeling of warmth, cozyness, and togetherness.
It is always my goal to have my home feel cozy and welcoming, but in the Fall season this desire really kicks into high gear as temperatures begin to cool down. In order to accomplish this, I love adding lots of chunky knit textures to my living room area: cable knit throw blankets and pillows, as well as ottomans and stools with a knit or ribbed texture. These items are both stylish and practical, and it’s wonderful to have them on hand for those inevitably cooler mornings and evenings. And they are a quick and easy way to make your home feel warm & cozy!
When taking a simplified approach to Fall decor, one of the best things to do is to incorporate the warmer hues of the fall season in your decor. Think of warmer tones like mustard, rust, burgundy, plum, amber brown, etc. You can see here I’ve incorporated throw pillows in a variety of warmer tones to reflect the fall season.
When it comes to a Fall kitchen, copper is a must! The inherent color of copper makes it a perfect addition for the fall season. Copper canisters, colanders, pan, vases…the possibilities are endless! I decided to attach 2 eye hooks underneath my open shelves to hang copper pieces from this fall season, and I’m so happy with how it turned out! I also put my mini copper canister collection as well as a copper vase on my corner shelves in my kitchen.
Using copper pieces is a simple and timeless way to make a nod to the fall season.
Another understated way to make a nod to the fall season is by incorporating natural elements that reflect the shifting seasons.
Place apples in an old stoneware bowl or bring in branches from outside.
Bring on the layers!!! As temperatures cool down, we find ourselves layering on clothing. And I like to reflect this in my decor by “layering” in multiples of the same items. Cutting boards stacked with each other, towers of bowls or stacks of plates, lots of amber bottles in a collection…whatever it may be, instead of just having 1 or 2, go ahead and layer it on girl!
Here’s a view of my Fall tablescape. And I realize it’s a highly unconventional one. Most of you are probably wondering where they heck all the stuff is that would actually make this a true “tablescape”. Well the reality is that I like my table to be clear. In the current phase of life that I’m in, I personally find it calming, and a heck of a lot easier, to have a bare table. So I choose to put one vase in the middle, which can easily be moved during our meal, and then put back afterwards. No fuss, no muss. I very much appreciate and admire beautiful table settings in other homes, and one day I may love creating that in my home too, but for right now, this is how I roll, with a “less is more” approach.

I decided it was time to do something about the painted 90’s linoleum floors that have been bugging me for a while. We have dreams of doing a full renovation on this bathroom some day, but it’s not the time for that quite yet. So instead I decided to give this floor a quick & […]
