I was determined to give my bathroom a refresh for only $500 in just 5 days! I headed to Lowe’s for all the supplies because I knew I could find affordable products to complete the project.
I selected beadboard planks as an easy and budget-friendly wall treatment, and choose Stainmaster paint in the colors Sweet Carolina (for the beadboard walls) and Desert Fortress (for the vanity).
Let’s take a look at where this bathroom is starting. Here are some before pictures:
To upgrade the existing vanity for under $30, all I needed was a quart of Stainmaster paint and new hardware. I started by using Liquid Sandpaper to prep the surface of the vanity so that the paint would adhere well. Then I grabbed a quart of Stainmaster paint in the color Desert Fortress and got to work painting it.
Once it was dry, I added Allen & Roth knobs to create that cottage core style. The knobs were under $2 for a 2-pack so they were a very affordable upgrade!
My next goal was to give the bathroom a more luxurious high-end feel, and I knew that a wall treatment was the way to accomplish that. I installed beadboard planks by nailing them into the studs with a brad nailer. To make sure it had a professional finish, I filled all the holes with wood filler and then sanded the entire surface with 220 grit sandpaper.
For the beadboard, I chose a moody green paint called Sweet Carolina by Stainmaster. I used a 3” angled brush to get in the grooves of the beadboard, followed by a ¼” nap paint roller to get a nice smooth finish.
Fixtures are like the jewelry of a room, so I purposely made sure to save on the paint and wall treatment, in order to splurge on fixtures! Lowe’s has so many aisles of options and a variety of styles and I knew I could find a light fixture and faucet that would be perfect for this space while staying within my $500 budget. I found this Allen & Roth light fixture and fell in love with it. The shades on it remind me of little lamp shades, and the brass finish really pops against the green Sweet Carolina paint. And for only $90, it adds a lot of style to this room while keeping me on budget.
I added this Delta faucet because I was drawn to the beautiful shape and the brass finish. And at $147, I had enough room left in my budget to invest in this quality faucet.
I cannot believe the difference in this space with just $500 in only 5 days! It went from basic to luxurious, while staying on budget! Let’s look at some before and after photos:
