I took a giant leap out of my comfort zone earlier this month when I said YES upon being invited to the Design Blogger Event with Delta Faucet in Indianapolis.  It meant convincing myself to leave my house (I’m a homebody), hop on a plane alone (I’m not a fan of flying), and go do something I had never done before (traveled for work).  BUT I had vowed that 2019 was my year to step out of my comfort zone, and this trip to Delta Faucet headquarters was an amazing opportunity to do so!  And you guys, I’m so so glad I went!   I could not have asked for a better experience, and I’m so excited to give you more details and insider info from this Delta trip, so here we go!

Faucet Colors and Trends

One of the coolest parts of this trip was experiencing so many products up-close in a hands-on environment.  After doing so, I can definitely say that I personally fell in love with the Matte Black and Champagne Bronze finishes.   Whether you’re working on a kitchen or a bathroom, I feel like those 2 finishes will give you a modern yet timeless appeal, as well as adding a nice contrasting focal point.   Delta faucets have a perfect blend of lasting classic designs yet they’re still leading the way with new styles too.  So if you’ve got renovations in the near future, my recommendation would be to consider Matte Black and Champagne Bronze finishes for your faucets, shower heads, and hardware.

A Sneak Peek at What’s Coming

We got to see several collections of new products that are launching later this year, one of which I completely fell in love with, called Dorval.  I was instantly obsessed with two-tone Dorval faucet which has white porcelain cross handles, beautifully complimenting the Champagne Bronze faucet.  The style is a blend of classic and industrial, and it just feels really fresh and original.   Not to mention, you guys know I’m a huge fan on high contrast, so the two tone white & bronze is right up my alley!  I was just so captivated by it.   Unfortunately I didn’t get to snap a picture of it while I was there, but you can see it on the Delta brand website here.  I really believe you’ll start to see more and more two-tone faucet options as trends continue to develop in the future, and I hope to incorporate these amazing products in some upcoming projects as well.

What Surprised Me the Most

I’ll be honest…Other than being concerned about what a faucet actually looks like on my countertop, I’ve never really given much thought to anything else behind it.  Superficial, yes.  But true, yes.  However, the people at Delta definitely changed all of that for me!   What I discovered was so much more than faucets…it is a highly innovative company that operates more like a family than a traditional corporation.   A company that intentionally wants to create inspiring experiences for people as we interact with water in various ways.  They take pride in developing new technology not just for the sake of “technology” but to actually improve people’s daily lives.  Things like Touch2O Technology allow you to tap ANYWHERE on your faucet with any part of your body in order to keep your faucet clean even when your hands are dirty or full (aka when I’ve been cutting raw meat and don’t want to use those same slimy fingers to grab my faucet handle).  I had never experienced this Touch2O Technology before but am pretty sure I want it in my life now!  Overall, I realize the importance of investing in high-quality faucets and fixtures that are not only stylish and on-trend, but also long-lasting – and that’s exactly what Delta creates.

The Moment My Mind was Blown

I witnessed something that I would have sworn was straight out of one of my childhood episodes of the Jetsons.  Except it happened in real life at Delta Faucet headquarters and it’s called VoiceIQ Technology.  It allows you to turn your faucet on and off with your voice.  You can tell it to dispense precise amounts of liquid to fit your favorite water bottle or measuring cup amounts or fill your favorite spaghetti pot you always use – anything.  You can also prompt Delta to warm up water.  You guys, my mind was blown.  It’s like an episode of the Jetson’s but it’s real life, and Delta is bringing it to your kitchen!

Meeting Insta-friends in Real Life

Having a friendship start online, and then cross over into real life has by far been one of the most unexpected blessings of this whole journey.   It’s amazing to see how social media has connected me with amazingly talented women and friends that I otherwise would not have had the chance to encounter in real life simply because of distance.

Ash of @arrowsandbow and I connected on Instagram when we were both fairly new accounts (I think I had about 800 followers and she had around 5k).  Remember when hashtag groups were a thing?!  We rocked one of those hashtag groups with a few other girls, and we’ve been good friends ever since.  We’ve supported each other, grown together, celebrated one another’s milestones and encouraged each other in the harder moments too.  So FINALLY getting to meet this sweet soul in real life was amazing!   She is every bit as kind and authentic and down to earth as I expected.  What you see of her on IG is what you get in real life, and I am so grateful that our connection with one another goes way back.  It’s kind of like those friends you’ve had since grade school that you know actually like you for you, and not just what you can do for each other.  She’s a special soul and I’m so glad we got to enjoy conversation, share French fries, and dance down the hallways of the hotel together!

Another special friend that I’ve now met not once but TWICE in real life is Sarah of @dreamingofhomemaking.  We’d been friends through IG for a while and got to meet in real life last fall in NYC at the BHG Stylemaker event.  So a few days before the Delta trip when I found out Sarah would be there too, I was thrilled!   Sarah is a sweet, humble, fun-loving soul and I will never forget wandering the aisles of the Indianapolis Target with her and a few other ladies late that first night in Indy.

Meeting all the design bloggers on this trip was a neat experience.  Ladies with different styles, backgrounds, and businesses all came together to share a common interest in design and we enjoyed lively conversation and laughs over good food and faucets!

The Flight Home

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that my last day at Delta Faucet ended with me getting a bad case of strep throat.  I literally got off the plan and drove myself straight from the airport to the doctor, and was diagnosed with a significant strep infection.  That aside, I am so grateful I went on this trip.  It was an opportunity for me to experience products I was already familiar with in a whole new light.  An opportunity to connect with the incredibly, hospitable faces behind Delta Faucet Company.  An opportunity for me to grow personally and professionally by stepping out of my comfort zone.  And an opportunity to share about these experiences with you!  If there is anything else you are still wondering about my trip, do not hesitate to comment below and ask.  I’d love to talk more about it!
